What is SCENAR? The SCENAR (Self Controlled Energo Neuro Adaptive Regulator) is a hand-held, electro-stimulation therapeutical medical device. SCENAR therapy is unique because it interactively locates, measures, and prompts problem areas in the body (asymmetries) through the skin to help relieve pain and restore function. SCENAR works by helping and body to heal itself. As the body adjusts to many environmental and internal influences it is said to be maintaining homeostasis. When the body is unable to adjust to impacts and influences it may go into physical dysfunction and pathology. SCENAR therapy is applied via the skin. SCENAR operates on the principle of biofeedback. The SCENAR device generates electrical impulses, which are similar in their form to the body’s own neurological impulses. Since these impulses operate within the physiological parameters of the body, the body does not regard them as invasive, so negative side effects as a result of SCENAR therapy are virtually non–existent. The SCENAR uses active biofeedback - meaning that the SCENAR has a changing base of processing. As an active biofeedback device the SCENAR involves itself in its interaction with the body, assisting or boosting the flow of information. It is as though the SCENAR device begins by ‘asking you a question’ and immediately ‘listens’ for your answer. As soon as your ‘answer’ – measured by way of skin dynamics (changes) – is ‘heard’ by the device, it immediately makes another 'comment' and awaits your next response – the process is active in the same way a good conversation is active – your replies are constantly changing and so is the SCENAR’s prompting. This active interaction is set up to prompt the body to identify areas called ‘Asymmetries’. These asymmetries can include stickiness (the SCENAR will have the feeling of being magnetically dragged on the skin), reddening of the skin, skin numbness or hypersensitivity, and/or an increase/decrease in the electronic ‘clattering’ sound of the device as it is dragged across the skin. "Simply explained, the SCENAR's sophisticated circuitry listens to the patient's body and then determines the most appropriate signals and dosages, using body's very own in-built pharmacy, that, in any given instance, needs to be provided to stimulate self-healing." SCENAR was developed by doctors and scientists in the late 1970’s for the Russian space programme to overcome the unique problems of space travel. Today SCENAR is a mainstream medical modality in Russia and many other European countries. What conditions can SCENAR treat? The device is used on most types of disorder or injury: musculoskeletal, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, urinary and genital, neurological, ENT, skin conditions, and dental problems. It has also been found to be beneficial with endocrine, nutritional and metabolic disorders as well as stress, depression and mental disturbances. The SCENAR is further credited with vastly reducing recovery times. In accident and emergency wards its ability to aid in recovery is used to help those with burns, fractures, insect bites, allergic reactions, cardiac arrest, trauma, and many types of sports injuries. As therapeutic interactive stimulation, SCENAR doesn’t treat any condition just by itself, its purpose is to create a dynamic, a change that stimulates the body’s own natural healing processes. The most pronounced and immediate effect after application of the SCENAR device is pain relief, which often lasts a lot longer than after use of regular means of pain control. Some clients have found more pain relief after SCENAR than from administered opiates.
The initial treatment can take up to one hour, and subsequent treatments between 30 minutes up to an hour. Clients generally experience an increase in refreshing sleep and an improved sense of well-being. As the device moves over the surface of the skin a comfortable tingling sensation is felt. In cases of severe pain or acute conditions the sensations may be stronger. How often will I need treatment? SCENAR treatments are usually more frequent at the beginning and as the client improves the frequency can be reduced. This is particularly true of acute problems that respond well to more intensive and frequent treatments. Chronic problems may require a more measured and gentler treatment regime. A course of treatments will vary greatly from individual to individual, and will depend on such factors as the stage and response level of the pathological process, the person’s age, overall state of health, life-style, and so on. In clinic treatments can sometimes be well complemented by home use of the personal Scenar device. A SCENAR impulse is similar to the body’s natural electro-neuro impulses. It is therefore safe and will not damage any part of the body systems. People with metallic implants such as pins, plates, screws, as well as hip/knee replacements ARE able to receive SCENAR therapy. What about my conventional treatment? The therapist prefers that your doctor knows you are receiving this treatment. It is hoped that any nonessential drugs can be reduced or eliminated over time and your doctor needs to be involved in that. For best results it is advisable not to bathe or shower for two hours before or after treatment, as the optimal effectiveness of the treatment will be disturbed by the washing of the skin. SCENAR is accepted and approved In Russia and many other parts of Europe SCENAR is accepted as a mainstream medical modality. The Health Ministry of Russia has authorized SCENAR for clinical use since 1986. The Russian results are supported by several years of use and feedback in Europe, USA, Australia and New Zealand. In these and many other countries, health practitioners, therapists, and members of the public now use SCENAR devices to great effect in treating many painful and debilitating conditions to alleviate pain and restore function. Where can I find a SCENAR therapist? There are many SCENAR therapists all over Australia and an increasing number in New Zealand. Please send us an e-mail and we will provide a list of SCENAR therapists near you.
